Bouncers
Z-564, codenamed "Bouncers", are monsters in Pressure, serving as the primary threat during the 1st and 4th sections of The Raveyard special expedition.
Appearance
Bouncers take the appearance of a large skeleton wearing a black business suit with a white undershirt underneath, formal black attire shoes, and red-tinted glasses. Upon becoming enraged, one of its eyes will glow red. Each Bouncer instance has the exact same attire, voice, and behavior.
Personality
Their behavior is initially passive and dedicated to keeping the party safe. They put extra emphasis on making sure that guests follow the dress code, which is no skin, no organs, and no muscle. They are portrayed to take their job very seriously, and are verbally aggressive to players due to them not adhering to the proper dress code of the venue. Bouncers will quickly become physically aggressive if people who are not following the dress code enter The Raveyard. During this state, they will hurl various insults at players while chasing them down.
Mechanics
As soon as the player passes the Bouncer to start the expedition, it will start chasing the player and will attempt to punch them upon catching up with them. If successful, it will deal 35 damage with each punch. It will then stop in place and crack its knuckles and neck before resuming to chase the player. If the Bouncer is too far away from the player, or its pathfinding is stuck, the game will despawn the previous one and spawn a new one in the same room as the player. The Bouncer will climb and jump down from the outer wall spawn point the player is closest to upon this happening. This only occurs during the beginning sequence, as the Bouncers cannot teleport during the finale. They will chase the player until room 14, where the gates close on the Bouncer and prevent them from following the player.
During the final encounter at room 41, two Bouncers will spawn. Once the player enters the church, the front door will slam. They will break down the door after a few seconds and continue to chase the player.
Notes
- Bouncers can only teleport once every 10 seconds.
- If a Bouncer gets stuck, and the player reaches the end of the encounter, they can still hear the Bouncer banging on the door aggressively, along with its voice line, regardless of the placement of the Bouncer before the gate closed.
- This happens with the church during the finale as well, but the Bouncers will respawn and break the church door open.
- If a player returns to The Raveyard's entrance, the Bouncer will stop pursuing them. However, HQ will become agitated and activate their PDG. If the player does not return to The Raveyard before it explodes, they will die.
- If the player comes back and leaves again, the Bouncer will stay in its aggressive state, regardless of the player leaving the area, and the PDG explosion timer will countdown without any way to stop it.
- If the player dies to the PDG explosion, they will obtain the "POP! Goes The Weasel" achievement.
- Bouncers can stop moving completely and go into an idle animation. It is unknown why they do this, but they will not respawn until players move far enough away.
- Bouncers cannot path up the spiral staircase at the top of the church, and will instead get stuck at the bottom of the stairs.
- The Bouncer is client-sided, meaning each player has their own instances of the Bouncers, that only they can see and interact with.
Strategy
Players should keep moving in order to avoid the Bouncer's punches. Stopping to collect Trash (especially in coffins) is risky, and players should instead collect
Trash that is within reach on the path. Taking the risk may be worth it, however, to help save up for the Party Special at the mid-run shop, especially if the player struggles with Skelepede or is attempting to get the Put It On My Tab Achievement.
Squeezing through tight spaces is also a good way to escape the Bouncer.
If you end up cornered, run up to The Bouncer while also making sure not to run into him, then run backwards waiting for him to punch. During the animation, there should be enough time to get past him. This strategy is risky and should only be used as a last resort. His punch has quite a short windup time -- around 0.5s -- but it is still possible to dodge, and he cannot move for a few seconds after throwing a punch.
Quotes
Lore
Everytime the Z-563 anomaly manifests in the Graveyard, the "Bouncers" appear, acting as a barrier for anyone violating the dress code. If an individual with skin, organs, or muscle tries to enter the Raveyard, the Bouncers will start chasing after them until they either adhere to it, leave the premises, or find a way to escape.
