Characters are individuals that are part of the Lore of Pressure, including both major and minor figures.

Major Characters

These characters are quite significant to the lore, most of which appear ingame.

Mr. Shade

Main Article: Mr. Shade

Mr. Shade is the founder and CEO of Urbanshade. He is 119 and was married to Mrs. Shade until her passing in 2005. He is the only known individual so corrupted that Pureblood can't clear him of his sins.

Sebastian Solace

Main Article: Sebastian Solace

Sebastian Solace is a prisoner of Urbanshade who had experiments performed on him in 2015 as an attempt to give humans gills. He was captured by Urbanshade after he was planned to be executed for being falsely charged with nine murders, with a false report filed and him becoming an LR-P at the Hadal Blacksite. Later in 2015, it became known he was falsely charged, although Urbanshade kept it secret to him and simply ranked him up to MR-P.

In 2025, he faked the affects of anesthesia, killed an elite guardsman for their keycard, and breached as many anomalies as possible. He also met up with the p.AI.nter and made a deal with it. He began contacting various rivals of Urbanshade to get him out in return for research from EXR-P trading with him. Mr. Lopee also forces him to help the player by setting up the Dead-Drop Shop and showing them Documents. Sebastian's fate is unknown, although it is confirmed he survives. He is also confirmed to have a wife who seemingly dislikes Mr. Lopee.

the_p.AI.nter

Main Article: p.AI.nter

The p.AI.nter is a sentient AI created by an unknown individual. It, unlike regular AI art programs, actually draws instead of generating a picture. Its favorite things to draw are landscapes, particularly beaches. Detected in 2023, Urbanshade operatives captured and interrogated the creator before accidentally killing them.

The p.AI.nter was moved to the Blacksite and forced to mine Roblux crypto currency for 6 days a week. During the breach, Sebastian encountered it and gave them a deal; if it delays the retrieval of the crystal, Sebastian will rescue him from the Blacksite. The p.AI.nter then takes over the Internal Defense System and hijacks the Navi-Path to trick individuals into being attacked by the Good People, whom Sebastian created earlier by forcing the Mask of Sadness onto the face of a personnel.

Navi-AI

Main Article: Navi AI

The Navi-AI is the supercomputer which manages the majority of the Blacksite functions, such as Trenchbleeders, the Internal Defense System, door numbers, and the External Repellant System. She was first built in 1979 but has been continuously modified, such as in 2005 when she was given a voice based off of the late Mrs. Shade, although due to communicating so much with Mr. Shade, she has gained his mannerisms and become "colder". Many of her functions were hijacked by the p.AI.nter during the lockdown, such as the Internal Defense System and Navi-Path.

Lady Death

Lady Death, also known as Death, is the former Grim Reaper and current Ferryman of The Banlands. After the previous Ferryman, Death's husband, was slain by the Guardian Angel of the Banlands in a fight, she was forced to take his place, leaving the job as Grim Reaper for Hallowed. After the defeat of the Guardian Angel, she abandoned her duty to instead stand on the pier overlooking the lake of the dead, which has become an ocean without souls being brought to the cities. She does not speak, and will only revive someone if she is given a token, which she will throw into the sea. Urbanshade is constructing a machine to take her place, which will be finished by 2026.

Guardian Angel of the Banlands

The Guardian Angel is an angel that guarded The Banlands, preventing anyone from entering. It cannot speak English, only using gestures and its holy tongue to communicate. In 2006, Urbanshade conducted an expedition into the Banlands, but was met by the Guardian. The Guardian tried peacefully hoaxing Urbanshade back to Earth, accidentally crushing expeditionee Rivers in the process. During the second expedition in 2008, Urbanshade incapacitated the Guardian by completely decimating its lower torso with a shot from one of four "Heavenpiercer" Class Self-Propelled tanks after the Guardian tried showing them a grave it had built for Rivers. The unconscious angel was brought to the Blacksite to be studied, and a fake story about a hostile angel was told to low-ranked personnel. They soon discovered that the Guardian had a seemingly infinite supply of "Pureblood", which absolves one of all sins and doesn't send them to the Banlands upon death. This "Pureblood" is now being harvested and given to retiring employees and sold to churches. No angels have been sent to replace the Guardian as The Almighty fears Urbanshade's military power. This has led the residents of the Banlands to abandoned their duties, since Heaven no longer had authority over them.

Minor Characters

These characters are insignificant to the overall lore or have little known about them.

HQ

Main Article: HQ

HQ is a individual working at Urbanshade who manages EXR-P teams. He gives initial directions and detonates the player's PDG if necessary. He has a cat named Dodgeball.

The Devil

The Devil is a prominent figure in The Banlands and is one of Urbanshade's closest collaborators. He lives in a mansion, presumably the Haunted Mansion, and seems to enjoy making new friends. After the defeat of the Guardian Angel, the Devil made a deal with Urbanshade which prevented their employees from being treeified and allowed them access to Lady Death. The Devil is also the one responsible for desecrating the dark side of the moon, carving a satanic pentagram into it to prevent The Almighty from peering into the Banlands. This caused the residents of the Banlands to abandon their duties, as Heaven no longer had authority over them. This included Lady Death, who neglected her job of ferrying souls to the cities of the Banlands. The Devil, agitated by this, commissioned Urbanshade to construct a machine to replace her. At some point, presumably after the defeat of the Guardian Angel, the Devil commanded Lady Death to revive Noli, befriending him and allowing him to live in his manor, also tasking him to write The Necrobloxicon.

Noli

Noli is the writer of The Necrobloxicon, currently residing in the Devil's manor in The Banlands. He is close friends with the Devil, and is tasked with drawing and writing for him. At some point, a cult was created to worship Noli, even though he does not care for his followers. This cult somehow found Paranoia's Box, which Urbanshade obtained in 2016 by raiding one of their compounds in Rosebud, Montana. The members of the cult committed suicide, leaving Urbanshade with the box. After an expedition led by N.O.S.T. was sent to question Noli in the Banlands about this, he claimed that he had no idea what the box is or why his followers had it.

Mrs. Shade

Mrs. Shade was Mr. Shade’s wife. She died in 2005, potentially prompting The Banlands incursion. Urbanshade was unable to locate her in the Ocean of Souls, meaning she possibly did not go to the Banlands. This prompted Mr. Shade to order that the Navi-AI be given a voice based on his late wife's.

The Multi-Monster

The Multi-Monster, also known as A-60, is an entity from The Rooms, escaping after the door to A-0001 was left open. It is capable of communicating to the player and is presumably the one who gave Sebastian the Gummylights that he sells. The Multi-Monster is capable of breaking the 4th wall, speaking directly to the player when he appears.

Rachjumper

Rachjumper is the dealer at the Gambling Room and owner of Club Spectrum. He is based on the developer of the same name, responsible for creating games like Before The Dawn, Survive The Night, and Slash (2018). It is currently unknown where he originates or how he came to the Blacksite.

Hallowed

Hallowed is the current Grim Reaper, who took up the job after Lady Death became the Ferryman. Nothing else is known about this character.

Guardsman Henry

Guardsman Henry is the guard who shot the Good People, traumatizing it into hiding. His current status is unknown.

River

River was accidentally killed by the Guardian Angel during the first Banlands expedition and has a Trenchbleeder named after him.

Rose

Rose has a Trenchbleeder named after her for her classified actions.

Dr. Kleiner

Overseer Werner
