Mask of Sadness
Z-96 - Codename "Mask of Sadness", is a smiling theater mask, that when worn, will take over the new user and melt their body down to a sentient meat paste.
With its first recorded appearance being on September 2nd, 1666, Z-96 was brought in and worn during a theatrical play, as no other comedy masks could be found. The origin of Z-96 is currently unknown, but it has been deemed irrelevant. After a performer put on Z-96 during an act of the play, it immediately began the M.o.S.A process. Shortly after, Z-96 had consumed 710 of the 725 souls present, including the cast, crew, and audience, which all became part of its mass. Z-96 then clawed its way out of the theater, tearing its way through the streets. During its rampage, Z-96 accidentally knocked a lit street lamp into a pile of hay, which quickly spiraled into an out-of-control fire.
Before long, Z-96 had trapped itself in the middle of a blazing inferno, burning the fleshblob to nothing but ash. The mask was found in the rubble inside a vault of Buckingham Palace. Z-96 was not written down in the history books, due to only 15 souls living to tell its story, with no one believing them. The mask was bought in 1984 by Urbanshade, during a state-lead auction, after having found a survivor's diaries which had piqued their interest, selling for $150,000 total.
When worn by any species, human, animal, or corpse, Z-96 will start assimilating it into a blob of meat. It will then try to seek out other living organisms to consume. Once enough size has been gathered, Z-96 will seek out safe places and then start to "digest" its new mass. It will continue to do so until it is killed by external forces. Despite the massive size it can become, it is merely flesh. If it bleeds, it dies.
Z-96 is currently being kept in storage, only brought out during "Scorched Earth" tier missions. The proper way to use Z-96 in the field is listed below:
Capture an enemy as a prisoner, or retrieve an enemy's corpse, Place Z-96 on its new host then lead it to its deployment location, where it is released and can then wreak havoc. Then let Z-96 do its thing at the desired location of obliteration. It should be noted that collateral damage & death to the local population is to be expected, but this is acceptable during these operations. Once the area has been cleared of hostiles, Z-96 is to be killed by Urbanshade operatives, have the mask be cleaned of mold, then returned to storage.
Trivia
- The date and location of the massive fire that Z-96 started coincides with the Great Fire of London, which lasted between September 2nd and September 6th, 1666.
