Hey, Grasei. We noticed you were planning on making a new fandom wiki. You know fully of what negative the fandom wiki does to our community and the official wiki.
You know fully well that a fandom wiki being operated serves no positive to any party aside from fandom itself, as they profit directly from the ads ran on the wiki for all users. Fandom profits from the data they collect on users and the ads they run.
The community is only harmed more as now there are three competing sources of information (the official wiki, the fandom, and your potential new fandom) and it’s unclear which is more reputable, the editors are only harmed more as now they have to worry about competing with the fandom wiki and preventing copying of their work.
If the fandom wiki is maintained, then it’ll keep its SEO power and prevent the new wiki from being picked up and put at the top of search engines.
We, the staff team of the official wiki, have extended this warning to others who have tried to adopt or revive the fandom wiki. You and anyone else appointed to manage the new wiki will not be welcome on the official wiki project in order to protect the interests of the community at large and the content our editors have created and worked on.
