Parasites

The Let-Vand Zone fauna, simply dubbed "Parasites" by personnel, are the main inhabitants of the trench. Parasites are small enough to be invisible to the naked eye, allowing them to blend in seamlessly with the darkness of the abyss.

The Parasites have adapted to the darkness, meaning they aren't used to light. Any amount of light, no matter how weak, is enough to "burn them alive", so to speak. Because of this, you'll see paths travelled by divers being lit up by green beacons.

Parasites are only a problem in areas not lit up by any types of light sources. In the event that you're out diving without a Tungvest, it is crucial that you stick as close to any pre-placed lights and beacons as possible. Swimming outside the light of the beacons will have you quickly swarmed and eaten. In the event that you for some reason swim outside beacon range, you have to swim back to the light as fast as possible, and then physically shake any parasites that have attached themselves to you off. Trying to shake them off outside of the light wont work, as they wont be weakened enough from the lights to let go as easily.
