Pressure Lite

Pressure Lite, was a limited-time version of Pressure meant to tide players over until the main game released.

Overview

Pressure Lite was opened on May 16th as a way for Pressure fans to enjoy the game until release. Development was limited after launch, mainly being bug fixes and additions to Hoppy Mode. There were no badges or rewards that impacted the full game.

Pressure Lite had a few features that were not present in the Final Test, the main one being Wall Dwellers. Outside of a small test, this was the first time players were able to interact with them. Additionally, this was the first time player could experience the Gauntlet.

On June 21st, it was announced that Pressure Lite would close down soon in order to prepare for the launch of the main game. During the game's final weeks, it received an update that forced everyone in the Submarine Bay to look like one of the Smiling Critters from Poppy Playtime Chapter 3. Eventually, on (TBD), Pressure Lite closed.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Pressure Lite revolved around the player advancing through as many rooms as they could while avoiding several Monsters. Unlike the full game, Pressure Lite had little-to-no unique room generation, with only a small pool of similarly-themed rooms able to be spawned.

Gameplay Tweaks

Pressure Lite had several small gameplay tweaks. These include:

  • There is now an infinite amount of rooms.
  • Sebastian's Shop now spawns at room 500,000.
  • A tracker that displays your highest room for both Normal Mode and Hoppy Mode is shown when you open the first door.
  • Pressing P toggles 3rd-Person Mode

Hoppy Mode

Hoppy Mode (named after Hoppy Hopscotch from Poppy Playtime Chapter 3) is Pressure Lite's version of Evil Mode. Added a few hours after Pressure Lite released, players could access it by clicking a green button surrounded by various Hoppy Hopscotch images next to the first door. It received multiple updates throughout the game's lifespan that gradually added more and more features. The final version included:

  • The Educator.
    • Classrooms did not spawn alongside him.
  • Flickering lights, similar to Evil Mode.
  • Pandemonium has a much longer and harder minigame that includes red circles that drain the bar even faster.
  • Puddles of Void-Mass now glow green, are silent and don't have black liquid dripping from the locker.

Frowny Mode

Frowny Mode (named after Frowny Fox, the unofficial smiling critter created by Gametoons) is an extension to Hoppy Mode. Added on the 27th of June 2024, players could access it by pressing a grey button behind a walk-through image of Frowny Fox inside an unlocked room in the Submarine Dock so long as they had pressed the Hoppy Button first. The final version of Frowny Mode added:

  • The Educator permanently gains a gun after being stunned with a Flash Beacon
  • The Educator's Schoolhouse spawns every 50-65 rooms
    • These schoolhouses provide a free Notebook and a full heal upon exit.
  • Eyefestation's pull is now much stronger.
  • Gauntlet rooms have an increased timer of 40 seconds.
  • Pandemonium is reskinned to appear as Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
