Pressure Wiki:Manual of Style
While editing on the Pressure Wiki, you should aim to follow this manual of style. Our wiki has a moderation extension which allows us, the staff team, to manually check and edit incoming changes. By following this manual of style, we all can ensure that this wiki stays helpful and accurate while maintaining a consistent level of quality.
Writing Style
Dates & Times
When adding dates to pages, please fully write out the date (eg. 31st May, 2024). This avoids confusion with other date systems while making it clear when an event took place.
Do not add exact times to pages unless it is necessary and vital to the content. Exact times should be accompanied by their timezone (eg. 11:04pm NZST).
Files on Pages
Files are crucial for wiki pages, providing vital visual information to visitors. While adding files to pages, the following practices are best.
Images
When adding images to pages, please make sure to include a caption and an alt text when possible. These descriptions should be short and pertain to the content of the image itself. More information about adding images and their properties can be found on Mediawiki's image help page.
Videos
When embedding videos in pages, please make sure to include a short summary of what the video is in the caption and alt text when possible. When embedding videos from external sources (youtube, vimeo, etc), please use the correct tags. Uploading Files
When uploading files, please make sure to follow the file policy. Make sure to use succinct and specific file names, include a clear file description detailing what the file contains, and categorise the file under only one category. Do not upload any files obtained through unofficial channels (eg. exploiting, datamining, etc).
