The Hadal Division's logo

Urbanshade is both a major company, and the overarching antagonists in Pressure.

Overview

Urbanshade's main goal is to generate as much profit through the creation of weaponry and military-related supplies. Urbanshade also conducts business in the consumer and commercial markets, although specific details are currently unknown. Urbanshade is also known to operate several large-scale mining operations through the creation and usage of the Trenchbleeders.

Urbanshade contains and researches anomalies, including those refered to as monsters in order to discover new techniques to utilize in the production of weapons and products. It is known that numerous monsters are contained within the Hadal Blacksite, and that Urbanshade operates within other divisions outside of the Hadal Division in other facilities in the world.

Prisoner Ranks

Each Urbanshade prisoner has a set rank, indicating their status and responsibilities. There are currently only three known prisoner ranks.

EXR-P

Expendable ranked prisoners are those involved in the "Expendable" protocol. They are used to carry out operations with a risk of major losses. They are often criminals recruited by Urbanshade with the promise of being pardoned. EXR-Ps are regarded as replaceable assets and are not expected to survive the expeditions they're sent on. This is also the rank that the player is in.

Known Tasks for EXR-P

  • Crystal retrieval
  • Shutting down The Raveyard
  • Blacksite maintanence
  • Drinking blood (sub-group of EXR-P)

LR-P

Low ranked prisoners are treated similarly to EXR-Ps, but are kept in cells until called upon for experiments, which are often dangerous or even deadly.

Known Tasks for LR-Ps

  • Backrooms Expeditions
  • Blood donation
  • Candy taste testing
  • Explosive wastes and fire hazard work
  • Testing experimental teleportation technology
  • Ice Cream flavor testing
  • Killing Area 51 Employees
  • Farm maintenance
  • Being used as monster bait
  • Daybreaks work
  • Carrying and manning Urbanshade's cargo carriers
  • Dead Marsh work
  • Extracting honey from Z-724
  • Human testing
  • Z-2512 work

MR-P

Medium ranked prisoners benefit from slightly better living conditions compared to LR-Ps. They are allowed to roam the facility freely and perform janitorial duties. They are also involved in non-deadly testing. The only known MR-P as of date was Sebastian Solace.

Known Tasks for MR-Ps

  • A-0 Expeditions
  • Oxygen Garden work
  • Taking care of Z-17 instances
  • Z-2 related work
  • Radio communications work
  • Electronic equipment and electrical hazards work
  • Jumpsuit design
  • Fishing for Blacksite meals
  • Transportation and logistics work
  • Z-931 protection related work
  • Radioactive work
  • Composing music
  • Z-1799 related work in Sleepy Hollow
  • "Guardian Angel of The Banlands" blood pump systems work
  • Dark World Expeditions
  • Taking care of the Deep Sea Bunnies
  • Noodle taste testing
  • Z-5234 containment superstructure maintenance
  • Laser weaponry testing
  • Interior design
  • Surface cleanup work
  • Ridge related work

(It should be noted that there exists another 2 ranks named "MR-S" & "LR-S" that are briefly mentioned in The Educator's document as being one of the only three individuals who have entered and escaped The Schoolhouse[1], however these ranks are not mentioned anywhere else and as such does not have their own section here, due to there just not being any information about it.

Divisions

Urbanshade consists of several divisions and subdivisions. Currently, only the following are known.

Urbanshade Corporation

Known to be one of the wealthiest organizations run by Mr. Shade, acting as a significant rival to other major corporations, such as Deluge Labs, Bloxtop, Innovation Inc. and Pinewood. The corporation sells many products made partially by the other divisions, including:

  • Void-Mass tipped bullets.
  • Paint made of blood using the Alicron.
  • Excess energy from the Crystal, sold to Europe.
  • Extra Pureblood is sold to churches.
  • Resources mined by the Trenchbleeders are likely sold off.
  • Various anomalies (such as Candlebearers and Abstract Art) are sold at anomalous auctions.
  • Private security coverage deals.
  • Assassination hits from other individuals and companies.

The Hadal Division

Responsible for managing the Hadal Blacksite. They also manage hell-related matters, such as the Banlands expedition.

N.O.S.T

For more information, see: N.O.S.T

A subspection of the Hadal Division, N.O.S.T handles work relating to the Banlands.

The Expedition Division

Not much is known about the Expedition Division. Presumably, they would be responsible for managing and leading various expeditions.

The Infiltration Division

Little is known about the Infiltration Division. It can be assumed that they would be used by Urbanshade in order to infiltrate competitors. Certain members, such as "Bunker" Class units carry specialized equipment, such as Anti-Personnel Doorstoppers. (Second sentence is conjecture.)[2]

The Bioparanormal Division

Information on the Bioparanormal Division is limited. They are responsible for the study of biological entities, such as Pandemonium.[3] Due to only being referenced in Pandemonium's document, it is unknown if the Bioparanormal Division is canon or not as Pandemonium's document is not.

The Hazard and Ethics Division

Not much is known about the Hazard and Ethics Division. They most likely determine the risk factor of Urbanshade operations, as well as employee wellbeing. Researchers must appeal to the division if they wish to study certain entities.[4] Similarly to the Bioparanormal Division, it is unknown if the H&E division is canon or not, due to the same reasons as mentioned above.

Lore

For more information, see: Lore of Pressure

This section is dedicated to Urbanshade's involvement in the lore (note that some information may be incorrect).

Foundation and The Let-Vand Zone

For more information, see: The Let-Vand Zone

Urbanshade was founded by Mr. Shade in 19?? in order to make profit. In 1961, to the West of Iceland in the Norwegian Sea, a B-class cargo ship had sank into the ocean. The recovery team later found a previously unknown deep trench to the west of the Norwegian coast. Mr. Shade, knowing this information, quickly commanded personnel to blacklist the information and cover the site, making sure the new information never reached public knowledge. The trench was then dubbed The Let-Vand Zone.

With the Let-Vand Zone secured, Urbanshade founded the Hadal Division and began construction of the Hadal Blacksite in 1962, with the Ridge being completed in 1963 and the rest of the Blacksite in 1974. Due to the Blacksite being located far underwater, no governmental powers are able to manipulate it other than Urbanshade itself. No form of life is present in Let-Vand Zone other than Parasites and Searchlights. A Submarine Bay was built on the surface in the Faroe Islands as a convenient method to get to the Blacksite, also functioning as a supply hub.

Prisoner Diving Gear

For more information, see: Documents/Prisoner Diving Gear

During construction of the Blacksite, personnel noticed convicts used for labor would attempt to escape. To counteract this, Urbanshade invented the Prisoner Diving Gear (PDG), a modified standard issue-diving backpack outfitted with a remotely detonated shotgun shell placed directly aiming at the prisoner's neck. In the event that a convict tried to escape, a stationed guard or HQ would detonate the PDG, killing the convict immediately. After this little modification, escape attempts dropped by 98%. Improved models of the PDG have been developed throughout the years allowing the diving gear to withstand 1200000 stud depths.

Trenchbleeders

For more information, see: Documents/Trenchbleeder

To generate more money for Urbanshade, the Trenchbleeder Class Walker was built. Its only mission is to excavate as many resources as possible from the Let-Vand Zone, being natural minerals and oil. The Trenchbleeder was built to fill the role of a mobile oil rig and mining platform, bleeding the trench of all its resources. A total of 4 Trenchbleeders were created, Leon, Rose, Lucy, and River, named after Mr. Shades' family and Urbanshade's history. Once the Let-Vand Zone is empty, all Trenchbleeders will cease to operate and be scrapped for parts, except for Lucy, who will be switched into freeroam mode as requested by Mr. Shade himself.

The DiVine

For more information, see: Documents/The DiVine

In 1979, after a logging company reported seeing human plants, Urbanshade sent a team to investigate and came across The DiVine in the Amazon Forest, a species of humanoids made out of vines and other plant-based materials. After discovering 320 instances of The DiVine, Urbanshade operatives brought as many as possible back to the Blacksite. The logging workers were then executed and the area of the forest was burned down, making sure no trace of The DiVine was left. Urbanshade then dubbed the tragic incident as a wild fire to give to the public. The DiVine later became the main supplier of oxygen in the Blacksite, being placed in the Oxygen Gardens.

Sebastian Solace

For more information, see: Documents/Sebastian Solace

In 2013, Urbanshade seized Sebastian Solace, a prisoner suspected of murdering nine people. In 2015, Sebastian was selected to be in a test subject in a experiment to give humans gills. He was injected with the DNA of a blue whale, a sea snake, a great white shark, a mutated anglerfish, a silver spinyfin, a mantis shrimp and a classified creature. While the experiment worked, giving Sebastian the ability to breathe underwater, it distorted his body into that of a sea snake. During a transport, Sebastian killed an Elite Guardsman transporting him after faking an anesthesia dosage. Sebastian would then take their high level keycards and release every monster he could find, causing a site-wide lockdown.

Blacksite Lockdown

During the lockdown, Mr. Shade instructed everyone in the Blacksite to either escape or hide in armoured bunkers. Later, the "Expendable" protocol was initiated, sending EXR-P rank prisoners, or expendables, on a mission to retrieve the crystal which was contained in The Ridge. Urbanshade promised anyone who could return the crystal back to HQ would be cleared of their criminal charges and be given a bonus of an unspecified amount of cash.

The Player

The player is an inmate of a classified high-security prison, with their sentence not being revealed. On October 16th 2025, after serving 93 days, three Urbanshade employees came to the prison, escorted by guardsmen. They claimed to be looking for people to help them retrieve a crystal from one of their facilities, promising desirable rewards. Many inmates ended up signing up, including the player.

At the Submarine Dock, the player is briefed their task by HQ, however instruction falls short due to the concurrent monitoring of other teams at the Blacksite. The player has the ability to come back to life on account of Mr. Lopee finding interest in them, however are required to pay a Ferryman Token in order to do so. Sebastian will inform the player about the monster or hazard they died to, revealing more information every death.

After surviving the Ending Encounter with Searchlights, the player reaches a nearby dock, where a submarine is waiting. There, a guardsman retrieves the crystal, delivering it to Mr. Shade, who occupies a wheelchair with tank treads. The player is then escorted to Vágar Airport in a military vehicle, with Mr. Shade personally thanking them from a notification on a guardsman's phone, along with the clearing of their criminal records and receiving the aforementioned cash prize.

Supernatural Involvements

In 2007, Urbanshade managed to open a gateway to the Banlands, prompting the "Banlands Expedition" lead by the N.O.S.T sub-division. During the expedition, they shot down and captured the Guardian Angel of the Banlands using the Heavenpiercer, a mobile railgun, leaving it in a heavily injured state. No further angels were sent to help during the fight as their divine powers are no match to Urbanshade. During the encounter, River, an Urbanshade employee, gave his all during the fight. He was later honored by his name being one of the Trenchbleeders. With the angel down, Urbanshade made a deal with the Devil, promising that their employees would be spared from treeification, a process in hell where your soul gets turned into a tree. The Devil also carved the pentagram on the eye of God, publicly referred to as the moon, as an act of desecration.

Urbanshade's logo contains the pentagram and is plastered everywhere around the Hadal Blacksite, including uniforms. This is to ensure that all employees can be branded as sinners and get sent to hell after death. When they die, they can be brought back by The Ferryman using Ferryman's Quarter Tokens (otherwise known as Revives). However due to the price of Tokens, Urbanshade recruits people for the "Expendable" protocol as to not cause a dent in their storage.

Once an Urbanshade employee retires, they will be given a cup of angel blood, harvested from the Guardian Angel. Drinking it will obliterate every sin the employee ever did from their body, making them go to heaven instead of hell on death.
