Lore

For more information, see: Lore of Pressure

This section is dedicated to Urbanshade's involvement in the lore (note that some information may be incorrect).

Foundation and The Let-Vand Zone

For more information, see: Documents/The Let-Vand Zone

Urbanshade was founded by Mr. Shade in 19?? in order to make profit. In 1961, to the West of Iceland in the Norwegian Sea, a B-class cargo ship had sank into the ocean. The recovery team later found a previously unknown deep trench. Mr. Shade, knowing this information, quickly commanded personnels to cover the site, making sure the new information never reach public knowledge. The trench was then dubbed The Let-Vand Zone.

With the Let-Vand Zone secured, Urbanshade founded the Hadal Division and begin construction of the Hadal Blacksite in 1962, with construction finishing in 1974. Due to the Blacksite being located far underwater, no governmental powers are able to manipulate it other than Urbanshade itself. No form of life is present in Let-Vand Zone other than Parasites and Searchlights. A Submarine Bay was built on the surface in the Faroe Islands as a convenient method to get to the Blacksite, also functioning as a supply hub.

Prisoner Diving Gear

For more information, see: Documents/Prisoner Diving Gear

During construction of the Blacksite, personnel noticed convicts used for labor would attempt to escape. To counteract this, Urbanshade invented the Prisoner Diving Gear (PDG), a modified standard issue-diving backpack outfitted with a remotely detonated shotgun shell placed directly by the users neck. In the event that a convict tried to escape, a stationed guard or HQ would detonate the PDG, killing the convict immediately. Improved models of the PDG have been developed throughout the years.

Trenchbleeders

For more information, see: Documents/Trenchbleeder

To generate more money for Urbanshade, the Trenchbleeder Class Walker was built. It's only mission is to excavate as many resources as possible from the Let-Vand Zone, being natural minerals and oil. The Trenchbleeder was built to fill the role of a mobile oil rig and mining platform, bleeding the trench of all its resources. A total of 4 Trenchbleeders were created, Trenchbleeder Leon, Rosa, Lucy, and River, named after Mr. Shades' family and Urbanshade's history. Once the Let-Vand Zone is empty, all Trenchbleeders will be shut down and dismantled for parts, except for Lucy, who will be switched into freeroam mode.

The DiVine

For more information, see: Documents/The DiVine

In 1979, a logging company contacted Urbanshade after coming across The DiVine in the Amazon Forest, a species of humanoids made out of vines and other plant-based materials. After discovering an estimated 320 quantity of The Divine, Urbanshade operatives brought as many as possible back to the Blacksite. The logging workers were then executed and the area of the forest was burned down, making sure no trace of The DiVine was left. Urbanshade then dubbed the incident as a wild fire to give to the public. The DiVine later became the main supplier of oxygen in the Blacksite, being placed in the Oxygen Gardens.

Sebastian Solace

For more information, see: Documents/Sebastian Solace

In 2013, Urbanshade seized Sebastian Solace, a prisoner suspected of murdering nine people. Sebastian later partook in an experiment in 2015, merging the DNA of an anglerfish, a sea snake, a blue whale and an unknown creature. While the experiment worked, giving Sebastian the ability to breathe underwater, it distorted his body into that of a sea snake. During a transport, Sebastian killed an Elite Guardsman transporting him after faking an anesthesia dosage. Sebastian would then take their high level keycards and release every monster he could find, causing a site-wide lockdown.

Blacksite Lockdown

During the lockdown, Mr. Shade instructed everyone in the Blacksite to either escape or hide in bunkers. Later, the "Expendable" protocol was initiated, sending EXR-P rank prisoners, or expendables, on a mission to retrieve the crystal at the end of The Ridge. Urbanshade promised anyone who could return the crystal back to HQ would be cleared of their criminal charges and be rewarded a specific amount of cash.

The Player

The player is an inmate of a high-security prison, serving an unknown sentence for their crimes. On October 16th 2025, after serving 93 days, three Urbanshade employees came to the prison, escorted by guardsmen. They claimed to be looking for people to help them retrieve a crystal, promising desirable rewards. Many inmates ended up signing up, including the player.

At the Submarine Dock, the player is briefed their task by HQ, however instruction falls short due to the concurrent monitoring of other teams at the Blacksite. The player has the ability to come back to life on account of Mr. Lopee finding interest in them, however are required to pay a Ferryman Token in order to do so. Sebastian will inform the player about the monster or hazard they died to, revealing more information the more deaths the player accumulates.

After surviving the Ending Encounter with Searchlights, the player reaches a nearby dock, where a submarine is waiting. There, a guardsman retrieves the crystal, delivering it to Mr. Shade, who occupies a wheelchair with tank treads. The player is then escorted to Vágar Airport in a military vehicle, with Mr. Shade personally thanking them from a notification on a guardsman's phone, along with that clearing their criminal records and receiving the aforemention cash prize.

Supernatural Involvements

In 2007, Urbanshade managed to open a gateway to the Banlands, prompting the "Banlands Expedition" lead by the N.O.S.T sub-division. During the expedition, they shot down and captured the Guardian Angel of the Banlands using the Heavenpiercher, a mobile railgun, leaving it in a heavily injured state. No further angels were sent to help during the fight as their divine powers are no match to Urbanshade. During the encounter, River, an Urbanshade employee, gave his all during the fight. He was later honored by his name being one of the Trenchbleeders. With the angel down, Urbanshade made a deal with the Devil, promising that their employees would be spared from treeification, a process in hell where your soul gets turned into a tree. The Devil also carved the pentagram on the eye of God, publicly referred to as the moon, as an act of desecration.

Urbanshade's logo contains the pentagram and is plastered everywhere around the Hadal Blacksite, including uniforms. This is to ensure that all employees can be branded as sinners and get sent to hell after death. When they die, they can be brought back by The Ferryman using Ferryman's Quarter Tokens (otherwise known as Revives). However due to the price of Tokens, Urbanshade recruits people for the "Expendable" protocol as to not cause a dent in their storage.

Once an Urbanshade employee retires, they will be given a cup of angel blood, harvested from the Guardian Angel. Drinking it will obliterate every sin the employee ever did from their body, making them go to heaven instead of hell on death.
